Where our data comes from and how we verify it
Our licence and export information is drawn from Sierra Leone's public authorities of record — principally the National Minerals Agency (NMA) register and the Government Gold & Diamond Office (GGDO, now the Gold & Diamond Division of the National Revenue Authority). We reproduce public register facts for verification. We are an independent service and not affiliated with these bodies.
Sources we rely on
- National Minerals Agency (NMA) register — licensed exporters, dealers and miners, their licence type, code, status and location.
- GGDO / NRA (Gold & Diamond Division) — export licensing, valuation and the Kimberley Process for diamonds.
- Mines & Minerals Act 2009 — the legal basis for the 3% export duty and export procedures.
- PMT export statistics — aggregate export volume, value and duty, mirrored from the NMA PMT register.
How the scam list is moderated
A party is never listed on a single unverified report. Reports enter a moderated queue; a named party is only published after corroborating evidence and a notice to that party giving a right of reply. Entries under review are never shown publicly. This is deliberate — the goal is an accurate, fair list that people can trust, not an open accusation board.
Accuracy & updates
We take care to reflect the register accurately, but public records change and errors can occur. A licence record here is a reproduction of a public fact and is not a substitute for direct confirmation of a specific transaction. Status shown (active, expired, suspended) reflects the register as we last captured it. If you believe a record is wrong or out of date, contact us at info@sierraleoneminerals.org and we will review it.
What a listing does and doesn't mean
A licence listing confirms a company appears on the register with a given status. It is not an endorsement, a guarantee of any particular shipment, or advice to transact. Always verify the specific consignment is real and tax-paid before any money moves.
